Innovation by Design 2026

Headphones you repair. Forever.

Head(amame) is a small studio in Vancouver making headphones meant to be repaired and rebuilt rather than replaced. We print the chassis to order, sell every component separately, and publish the print files so broken parts can be replaced with a print instead of a purchase.

Our Pro Model was named a Finalist in Sustainability and Circular Design at Fast Company's Innovation by Design Awards.

The award is for the unglamorous part: when a piece breaks, you print a new one. A broken headband is an overnight print, not a dead pair of headphones, and another $500 down the drain.

Head(amame) Pro - Repairable HiFi

The Head(amame) Pro is our flagship model.

With 50mm glass headphone drivers, Kevlar-reinforced housings, and tuning by Brian Hayden of Capra Audio; we've built an affordable HiFi package that punches well above its price point.

Every Pro owner can reprint any printed part of their own headphones for as long as they own them, which is what makes the repair argument above real rather than theoretical.

Build yourself Headphone Kits

Prior to Head(amame) Pro we published headphone kits for 3D Printing Enthusiasts.

The print files for Head(amame) V2 and Min(amame) are free to anyone. If you have a printer, go download them and figure out whether this is for you before spending anything. The files never expire, and we update them as improvements are found.

More than 1,400 people have assembled a head(amame) kit themselves, if you have a 3D Printer, you should join them.

What we haven't solved

We see a future where products aren't purchased, they are built and maintained at home.

We're pulling that future closer with more models, better tech, and infinite repairability.

Some assembly desired.
